Blight eradication
- As councilman, Jay successfully passed legislation to toughen laws to diminish blight.
- Propose legislation to expedite adjudication of blighted property for demolition or sale.
- Work with neighborhoods to devote city resources to reduce blight in the community.
Rebuild the streets and crumbling infrastructure
- Devote more budget and resources to rebuild and repave the streets.
- Work with federal and state legislators to increase funding for infrastructure repair.
- Support the formation of public-private partnerships to develop infrastructure improvements.
Improve education
- Fully support charter school model and funding.
- Dedicate support to neighborhood schools to provide increased opportunities for learning.
- Work to provide a safe and strong learning environment for our children.
Economic development
- Streamline permit process at city hall.
- Support public-private partnerships to further economic development.
- Be accountable to the citizens of New Orleans and the business community to devote the full support of the city to retain and bring in new businesses.
